Cebu Pacific recently had another P1 seat sale over the weekend.
Question : How much does one really save on a P1 seat sale?
Answer : Anywhere in the vicinity of P 287 pesos per trip or P 574 round trip (Bacolod-Manila-Bacolod).
The taxes pinned on the supposed one peso fare is P 2,852.32 (round trip) . So on this sale, a round trip ticket to Sugarlandia turns out to be P 2,854.32 .
Just something to think of as the large majority of "Juans" are sucked into Cebu Pacific's ingenious marketing ploys

ReplyDeletei just had a very bad experience with cebu pacific! i will be writing a blog about it very soon!
ReplyDeletei was supposed to have a flight from bacolod to manila yesterday at 10:05 am. the airline closed their check-in counter 45 mins prior to the flight. in addition, they moved their clock 10 mins earlier.
i am a frequent traveler and in all my trips, this is the first time that I have encountered such situation. usually, passengers could still check in even 10 mins prior to the flight (even at peak season).
many of the passengers including me, were not accommodated. instead, they accepted a large number of chance passengers, who will be paying the regular rate of 5,000++. some of us were able to book the promo rates which are fairly discounted. of course, the airline accepted the chance passengers who will pay more for that coveted seat.
as a result, a lot of travelers were inconvenienced. we had to go back to the airport that afternoon as chance passengers for the 6:20 pm flight. but we were still not able to make it.
i was finally able to board the plane at 6:20 this morning. we, who bought our tickets months before the flight, turned out to be chance passengers!
this is just one of the many bad experiences that i had with cebu pacific. i swear, next time i'll go with PAL.
wow, lloyd, thanks for pointing this out. haslo man guid ang cebu pacific. like tickets to manila from singapore for chinese new year are now at least 400singapore dollars one way (could be higher since it goes up pretty fast) while the likes of jetstar are just around 200sgd. they're really taking advantage of people. tapos grabe pa ang rebooking fee! i will not fly cebu pacific anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteWell, P574 is a pittance of course for biggies but for regular average travelers, it's still a big savings!
ReplyDeleteyes i agree it is big savings. however, when we come to think of the fact that the marketing scheme is working and the scheme compels those who didn't have any plans to travel to take an unscheduled holiday all because of the P1 ploy, the final dent on the unsuspecting victim/traveler goes much higher than the P 574 saved.
ReplyDeletei guess this is what i'm trying to drive at because i know of someone who scheduled 2 unnecessary Q1 holidays because she "saved on fare" in this most recent seat sale :-)
There's a grain of truth in what you said.. because of the P1 ploy, it compels people to take trips. This P1 thing merits both pros and cons in my opinion. Pro in such a way it gives a push for people to take that dream flight (atleast for the average Juan). On the other hand, being in the advertising profession -- its not exactly 'truth well told".
ReplyDeleteah. a victim of advertising. :-)
