Two posts ago I started talking about pens. I love pens. For me, pens are more than just a writing instrument. Pens serve as a record of time. Every phase in my life was marked by a pen. This easily explains why I always buy a new pen whenever I enter something new in life. I remember the tumultuous years of high school which was marked by my Staedtler 0.2 Technical Pen. In college, it was a Cross pencil which I inherited from my late dad who had just passed away at the time. I will buy a new pen this June to mark my 10th year of marriage with my wife.
Amidst all these, there is one very notable pen. A simple Waterman fountain pen which Penman, Butch Dalisay even wrote about. There are three things I have in common with the Penman...same grade school...same high school...and a love for pens.

ReplyDeleteButch is a harcore Mac person....make the jump already :-)
ReplyDeleteyou're not alone. I am a pen person as well but not to signify the milestones in my life but more of expressing my feeling at that time :)
ReplyDeleteyeah, i use specific pens for different tasks hehe
ReplyDeleteI have a Lamy fountain pen which i really adore. Does that count? :)
ReplyDeleteLamy is great! Very sleek modern lines. The distributor of Lamy used to be situated right next door to our old office in Herrera St. I used to drool over all the Lamy pens there.
ReplyDeleteThey still have an office here? I buy my refills out of the country pa
ReplyDeletethey are not in Herrera St. anymore but you can email them at lietz@lietz.com
ReplyDeletehassle masyado. wait na lang ko for the next trip. i have enough for another year. :)
ReplyDeletei still prefer the screw type fountain pen fillers coz the cartridges tend to dry up if not in use.
ReplyDeletei like the old parker fountain pens with rubber bulbs which draw the ink by squeezing. all you do is just dip the nib into a bottle of quink and squeeze the bulb thereby drawing the ink like a medicine dropper.
ReplyDeleteone of these days we will both be sitting at the beach with mac airs (reminiscent of an old san miguel tv commercial)
ReplyDeletemessy. i could never get the hang of it. i still have a bottle of quink as souvenir. :)
ReplyDeletesome day, i would like to write a novel with a fountain pen :-) i remember tony leung's character in "2046" scribbling furiously away with a fountain pen, with ink staining his hands. parang writer na writer :-)
ReplyDeleteyour reply reminds me of the kid in this ad... http://youtube.com/watch?v=MZ4lLhMP-kg . to write the great american novel sabi daw :-)
ReplyDeletenow they have plastic bulbs coz the rubber ones get brittle. i also enjoy dipping the nib on ink like quill writing. so meditative...
ReplyDeleteparker has also come up with a new way of drawing ink from a bottle...syringe type naman this time. the only drawback, limited capacity...hence, you have to "shoot up" every 3 days.
ReplyDeletemay screw type ink drawer din =)
ReplyDeletehehehe. at least may illusion at writing something "great." :-)
