I have never been the type who fancies wearing a Rolex watch.  I have always gone for the more functional watches which explains my preference for timepieces which bear both analog and digital displays.  Each type of display has its own purpose.  Allow me to explain...

My math teacher in high school, Mr. Torres, said that while digital watches provide one with the accurate digits of time, it lacks in providing the wearer with a quick-glance gauge of whether he or she is running late.  To do that, one would have to compute in their mind the current number of minutes as subtracted from 60 in order to know how much time is left (granting that the appointment is at the top of the hour).  It's a minor hassle which eclipses the apparent advantage of digital detail.

On the other hand, for an analog watch, at one glance, you'd know if you still have "a lot of time" or "little time".  The digital accuracy may not be there but it spares you the need for computation.

Enter my watch.  It's not an expensive watch.  The bezel is even losing its chrome.  But I like it.  Why?  It's unlike most watches.

There is a function wherein you enter a certain date and it will show you the actual time you have left until that date (it's an asset and tool to those who manage critical time-based projects).  So in this picture, it shows 120 days and 10 hours plus.  That's the time from now until my next wedding anniversary in June.  Other stuff I've discovered with this function...

-If I lived for another 45 years til my birthday in 2054, that would be
16,494 days from now.
-Time from now til end of 2009 : 323 days
-Time from now until my son's 20th birthday : 5,045 days
-Time from now until my daughter graduates from high school : 2,605
-Time from now until my son graduates from high school : 3,335
-Time from now until my wife and I are both 50 : 3,345 days

How to make the most of our time?  Try counting your life in days and not years as we normally do. ;-)

Oh Lord, as Your word says...

“Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should."- Psalm 90: 12, TLB
