At the time of this writing, the headline on the homepage of the Inquirer.net reads:
Says Mikey Arroyo: We Can Afford To Buy US Properties
This refers to the latest news on Rep. Mikey Arroyo failing to declare a million dollar house in the US in his Statement of Assets and Liabilities. This was headline news in the broadsheet today.
I could not help it but as I was reading the newspaper this morning, the coined term from the Marcos years which is, "kleptocracy", kept on coming back to my mind.
Something inside of me tells me that the straw that will break the camel's back is coming soon. I am no prophet, but I feel that the ingredients to spur people to take to the streets is brewing. If it does, we will all be surprised that it will be initiated by a flimsy action either by the President, any of her sons, or the Press Secretary.
Will this still be the headline in the broadsheet tomorrow?
Says Mikey Arroyo: We Can Afford To Buy US Properties
If it is, I wonder what kind of effects this will have on the general population. Magagalit ba sila sa kayabangan?
If so, I'll just have to say this now, we just have to brace ourselves for another long weekend up ahead.
Will This Still Be The Headline Tomorrow?

ReplyDeleteMikey's answer was not even to the point (falsification of the SAL). Pure yabang!
ReplyDeleteThe people have become apathetic, and therefore these Arroyos think they can get away with anything, even unthinking answers like these. True, there is People Power fatigue. But I think people can only so many insults to their intelligence. :-/
