I am waiting for Miriam Santiago's next privilege speech. Last 2006, after Typhoon Milenyo toppled many billboards in the metropolis, the feisty lady senator lashed out against the outdoor advertising industry with such rage as Typhoon Milenyo itself. Her premise was that more billboards will kill people on the street.
I am now waiting for her next privilege speech to see if she has ever come to grips with the fact that no other single industry in the Philippines has claimed more innocent lives than the shipping industry. In the same depth and breadth as her Anti-Billboard Blight bill, Sen. Miriam Santiago should write a senate bill to prohibit the addition of new ferries to ply the sea lanes of the archipelago because it is by far the deadliest industry of all.
True... yet so sad. Sus!
ReplyDeletei think her best bet would be to ban water ... it's makes up the sea that carries the ferry boats and is part of typhoons. if she bans water, her problems will be solved. all that's needed next is a real solution addressing real problems of the country.
ReplyDeleteAre you serious?? She actually blamed billboards and wasted precious taxpayer money to have a bill passed (then again, better to spend it on a bill rather than on a politician's bill for a meal for him and his cronies abroad)??? I have been away from the country way tooooooo long that I didn't realize how many of the politicians who had hit rock bottom when I left are still there but are continuing to dig to make the bottom even deeper. I agree with the ban on water and while she's at it, ban air as well because it's polluted. Cripes.
ReplyDeletei think she already has a self-imposed ban on common sense and sanity...
ReplyDeleteNicely put, Dep... but I "love" Miriam just the same, haha. Crazy.
