There it was again. The stage supercharged with emotion as the
game show contestant was down to her last two briefcases. Call it
a deja vu, the crowd was screaming mixed messages. Some crying
out, "No deal!". The others yelling "DEAL!"
This time, the contestant was very much the opposite of the girl
playing last September 19. This was an elderly lady well into her
late sixties who had enough wisdom to discern when it was time to stick to her guns and when it was time to give
in to the banker. Furthermore, apart from the inherent wisdom
that comes with age, Elsa (the contestant) was surrounded by other
women of like age and wisdom coaching her from the sides.
Down to the last two briefcases, one holding P50,000.00 and the other P2,000,000.00, the banker made a magnanimous offer to "buy her briefcase" for P1,127,000.00 .
Elated that she could take home a little over a million for charity, Elsa finally gave the thumbs up and pressed the buzzer finally sealing the deal. P1,127,000.00 to take home. This was the largest offer ever made by the banker.
It was exciting. But at the same time, it was anti-climactic.
Indeed, contentment consists not in adding more fuel, but in taking away some fire.
So much for the climax.
