Inscribed on the silver dollar : "IN GOD WE TRUST".
For the longest time, this was merely an inscription. Hardly adhered to and perhaps even mocked by the Gordon Geckos of this world.
Now after the Dow Jones dips 700 points, it seems like God is pulling out a test. I'm hearing:
"So you trust in Me? Okay, let's see..."
Let's not complicate things. It's time to go back to Proverbs 3:5 : Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

ReplyDeleteLloyd,
ReplyDeleteI think you've been watching too many hollywood movies. Hahaha! Anyway, there are more conservative Christian's in the US than anywhere in the world, I would venture to say. The inscription "In God We Trust" is in all the currency, not just silver dollars, and it speaks to the philosophy of the founding fathers when they wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776 ("...endowed by their Creator certain unalienable rights...") and in the Pledge of Allegiance ("...one nation under God ..."). What's happening with the economy can be attributed to greed, just like Gordon Gecko, but the scale is not calamitous nor does it represent the entire country. Making it sound like people in the US are all about greed is inaccurate because just think, which country in the world can you say helps others the most ...when there's a disaster, who sends the most help? I don't hear China being of great help, nor even France, not even Italy, no, it's the US. And, what does it get in return? A lot of negative press because the media representing the US in the outside world is so liberalized, they only show the bad side because it gets the ratings. Last thing, at least once a month on Sundays at our church, we get people from all around the world asking for help because we have consistently given help as the archdiocese of Los Angeles, even the bishop of Jaro, Iloilo came once. So, the US is not always about Gordon Gecko, it is comprised of a lot of honest, hard-working, and religious people who are blessed enough to live in this country and never hesitate to share their blessings with others.
True...and it is this half which will lead the other half in seeing that it's not all about Gordon Gecko, Wall Street, and the dollar.
