From the time I started playing golf, I have had only one pair of golf shoes.  This is because spikes are replaceable.  So I just kept on replacing spikes even if the upper leather was wearing out.

Last year I had the chance to get a new pair courtesy of the bank via its invitational tournament wherein among their generous giveaways would be a pair of Mizuno golf shoes.  My eyes were scanning the showcase for a nice pair when all of a sudden, I remembered, I needed to get something for my wife.  Good thinking!  I immediately opted for a ladies' pair with my wife's shoe size.

That made her her happy.  It also made me eagerly await this year's tournament.

Alas, news came out the other day.  While meeting the new bank manager and in a getting-to-know-you chat, I mentioned that my 2 kids were junior golfers.  On that note she said, "Oh sir, I regret to inform you that we will not be having an Invitational Tournament this year".

Given the economic doldrums most financial establishments are in, I guess that's understandable.  So, here I am waiting for next year's tournament.  Hoping that there'll be one.  Hoping that again they'd be providing the same goodies.

In the meantime, I'll just have to wait for a good golf sale to come by...and just keep replacing spikes.
